Lewis was born without a left forearm but found his fixed NHS prosthetic too cumbersome.
However his enthusiasm in class inspired design technology teacher Daniel Grant to create him a lighter replacement using a 3D printer.
Mr Grant modelled the red arm on superhero Iron Man, one of Lewis’s favourite film characters, and it allows him to grip things. The lad said: “I am so excited to be able to ride my bike and be like everybody else.”
The teacher sent his design to charity Team UnLimbited, which returned the files for 3D printing at Bradfield School, Sheffield. The materials cost £30.
Mr Grant said: “It’s great to have been able to do this for Lewis.”
